MYC is proud to have helped address the RiNo area community needs by bringing to life the $4.5M, 3-acre adaptive reuse RiNo ArtPark project, designed for connection within the community. RiNo ArtPark is a creative hub designed to spark innovation and bring people together. The project included two existing buildings which were not designed for community use that MYC transformed into the ArtPark while carefully maintaining the historic character of the buildings. ArtPark includes a Denver Public Library, RedLine Contemporary Art Center gallery studios and maker space, Cocua restaurant from Focus Points, and an open-air landscaped courtyard with access to green space.

Avon Recreation Center

The Avon Recreation Center is a spacious multi-use facility with more than 40,000 SF. The recreation center has an aquatics facility including a five-lane, 25-yard lap pool, lazy river, zero-depth entry kids pool, 140-foot water slide, aqua climb climbing wall, diving well, hot tub, dry sauna, and steam room; an aerobics studio; fitness center and weight room; yoga studio; and locker rooms and showers.
MYC worked on this center which consisted of a 15,000 SF remodel of the first floor and an addition of a second-floor mezzanine to the interior of the recreation center. MYC remodeled the Aquatics Center, the Child Care Center, the lobby, and the steam room; replaced the roof; and completed exterior masonry repairs, exterior concrete plaza replacement, and pool deck repairs.

Congress Park Pool

Congress Park Pool is one of the City of Denver’s oldest pools after 63 years of operation. It grew increasingly costly to maintain, requiring extensive upgrades. The City opted to replace these facilities to better serve the community. MYC was selected to remove and replace the public pool, bath house, and pump house. The new state-of-the-art public swimming pool opened in August 2022 and supports the growing population and recreation trends in Denver.
The new 50-meter pool with 25-yard cross course is being constructed in roughly the same location as the existing pool. The space surrounding the pool deck and perimeter fence was landscaped. The South side of the parking lot was demolished and rebuilt to meet ADA requirements and included a bioswale providing water quality. An underground detention vault was constructed in the South parking lot area.

CU Boulder Student Recreation Center Pool

MYC completed two pool projects including Leak in Competition Pool and Replace Pool Deck and Tile. MYC removed and replaced the pool deck tile including waterproofing and cementitious underlayment, replacing floor drains, domestic water to floor boxes, structural repairs to the pool gutters, heavy duty HVAC wall registers, replacing slip resistant tile on walls with matte finish tile, replacing rusting pool wall tile in both pools, and miscellaneous other repairs.
The decades-old main pool drain in the competition pool had failed, resulting in subsurface washout and structural failure beneath the pool and surrounding area. MYC demoed portions of the pool floor, removed and replaced the main drain in the pool and rerouted the new drain through the mechanical spaces below. Structural foam injections were used to stabilize the pool and surrounding floors. New concrete, waterproofing, and tile was installed. Additionally, a 30’ long operable glass wall (NanaWall) was installed from the interior natatorium to the outside pool patio; heavy duty fiberglass swinging doors were also installed for the Zamboni entrance at the ice rink.
